When planning your trip, be aware that some countries impose a tourism tax, which is collected directly by local authorities. This tax is typically payable at the hotel or airport and cannot be pre-included in your holiday package. It is the traveller’s responsibility to settle this amount as per the local regulations.
- Dubai: A Tourism Dirham Fee is applicable per room per night, based on the hotel category:
AED 10 for 3-star hotels
AED 15 for 4-star hotels
AED 20 for 5-star hotels
- Maldives: Guests staying at hotels on public islands are required to pay a Green Tax of $6 USD per room per night.
- Malaysia: Tourism tax varies between RM 10 to RM 15 per room per night, depending on the type of accommodation.
- Thailand: A National Park Fee of 400 THB is charged for visiting certain islands. The funds contribute to natural restoration and conservation efforts.
- Bali (Indonesia): A Retribution Fee, often referred to as a “compulsory donation,” is charged when visiting Nusa Penida Island:
IDR 25,000 for adults
IDR 15,000 for children
Additional retribution fees may apply when visiting other islands.
- Vietnam: Mandatory Local Guide Fee is applicable between $3-$5 Per Person/Per Day. The fee must be paid directly on the spot.
- Europe: A compulsory tipping of up-to EUR 10-12 to driver and guide could be possible/Per Person/Per Day during your visit to Europe. This is just the dynamic costing and varies from country to country within Europe. Please check for the latest information before travelling.
- Any other Destination: If your destination country is not listed here then please check with the local team regarding the local taxes/tipping costs involved
